FIELD NOTES
What weight and balance tell you
Two 300 g racquets can feel different.
Weight needs a qualifier
Unstrung weight describes the frame before strings are installed. Playing weight also includes strings, grips and accessories. Our catalog uses unstrung weight and shows ounces alongside grams.
Balance describes the distribution
Balance is the distance from the butt of the handle to the point where the racquet balances. Compare frames of the same length and in the same strung or unstrung state.
Swingweight is a separate measurement
Swingweight describes resistance to rotation around a measurement axis. Weight and balance alone cannot determine it precisely. We leave it out when we do not have a reliable measurement.
An example from the catalog
The eighth-generation EZONE 98 lists 305 g and 315 mm; the EZONE 100 lists 300 g and 320 mm. Those are measurable differences. Personal preference still calls for a demo.
